The SOLAS floating smoke signal has different kinds of names in the vernacular. You should think of names like ‘smoke bomb’. Yet this is not quite right. A floating smoke signal is much more than a smoke bomb. This special version of the T3 smoke signal is SOLAS approved. This means that the smoke signal can be used under the harshest conditions, after ignition the smoke signal can be thrown into the water where it will display its location while floating. A thick orange smoke production ensures that locating in daylight has never been easier. This makes the SOLAS floating smoke signal literally the smoke bomb among distress signals!

Solas 74/96 – CE approved smoke signal

These signals have been developed and tested according to the rules of Maritime Authority Solas 74/96. Naturally, they are also CE approved. Firstly, you can use this distress signal on vessels. Secondly, they are of course also suitable for purposes on land. The SOLAS seal of approval guarantees that this type of signal is waterproof.

This means that water does not affect the product’s effectiveness! The floating smoke signal has an effective duration of roughly 120 to 180 seconds. SOLAS floating signals are only available in the colour orange, as this is the standard in shipping.
